Ridgeland College Prep Academy students take a foreign language, CTAE, and seminar classes like all students wishing to prepare for college. However, Honors Academy students take more rigorous, faster-paced academic courses at the Honors and Advanced Placement level that can earn college credit. Ridgeland College Prep Academy's core academic classes will focus on skills necessary for a technical career or diploma, two-year, or four-year college. These skills include writing, study, research, and verbal communication. Ridgeland College Prep Academy classes are focused on helping students obtain the skills that will prepare them for admittance to a technical, two-year, or four-year college.
Ridgeland College Prep Academy teachers will monitor students continuously to offer academic support and scaffolding as needed. They will offer individual attention to ensure that every student is successful. The College Prep Academy is designed to prepare students for the rigors of post-secondary education.
Many Ridgeland College Prep Academy students maintain their academic schedules and work, while still participating in extracurricular activities such as band, chorus, JROTC, and sports.
Ridgeland College Prep Academy students will follow the typical Ridgeland High four-blocks-a-day schedule.
College Prep Academy core academic classes will focus on skills necessary for a four-year or two-year college degree, diploma, or/and career. These classes will focus on the reading, writing, and time management skills needed to succeed at the college level. These courses will require more homework when compared to College and Career Academy courses, but less than Honors Academy courses. In addition, College Prep Academy students will also take Spanish 1 and 2, which satisfies the foreign language requirement for college admittance.

Ridgeland College Prep Academy students may choose from any pathways and/or seminar courses available at Ridgeland.
Ridgeland College Prep Academy core teachers will incorporate preparation for the four ACT skill areas (English, mathematics, reading, and scientific reasoning) into their weekly curriculum beginning the freshman year of high school.
